8.9 quake hits Japan

which triggered a massive tsunami

Tokyo felt it too…

even Narita Airport was reportedly closed

this was what it was like for an individual…

the shop assistants were protecting the goods instead of themselves…

this was what it was like to be in a car as the tsunami hits

Australian Ghost Gum

I find this gum tree species quite appealing. It’s the color of the bark.

Are you really fur free?

If it’s cheap, it doesn’t mean it’s fake.

Malaysian Chinese guy abuses dog

as his useless partner records the act on video. A person’s true nature is revealed by the way he or she treats an animal

It (pun intended so don’t anyone dare correct me, as if I don’t know the difference between he and it) is not able to take it out on someone it’s own size and have to resort to hitting a dog less than half its size. How pathetic is this piece of human thrash and not forgetting the bitch recording the act as well. The day will come when they end up being locked up in a cell with two ferocious Rotweilers. No, being mauled to death will be too easy on them. May the Rottweilers tear a limb or two off them.

Yasi – 8 hours to impact

I hope someone remembered to evacuate the animals as well.

Train disruption due to the French strike

008

Because of the strike in France which affected transportation today and will affect transportation tomorrow, we have to get up at 5a.m. tomorrow to drag the luggage to the Bayeux train station so that we can catch the 6.51am train to Paris. Our 8.41am train will be disrupted according to SNCF and the next available train is at 11.56am which means we will miss the 12.20 noon train from Paris to Tours, which is running. If we don’t catch this train, the followng trains are all going to be disrupted until 17.51!

Mail Hold

This is a great service offered by Australia Post. We use it every time we go away. There is no need to rely on anyone to get the mail and the risk of people losing the key to our mailbox and matters like that. There are certain things that i don’t trust others with. If you can resolve it yourself, why rely on others. And if you try hard enough, there is always a way.

Selecting Flight Seats

Selecting seats on flights form part of the planning and preparation for travelling as well. And with the amazing internet, it isn’t difficult at all to know which exact seats are preferred, which exact seats to request, if one has the initiative. Some may have the attitude of ‘I’ll take whatever seats is given to me”…the whatever attitude. No. You paid a good price for your seats and so should make the effort to select your preferred seats. Or at least try to request for your preferred seats. We should have a certain level of requirement. People with the ‘Anything will do’ attitude just doesn’t take much interest in things or their lives.

I prefer to have information in front of me when discussing, negotiating or requesting. A reference. For the 4 legs of the trip, which are rather long-haul, I tried to request for seats in the 57-59 rows. I was offered seats in row 61 for one of the legs. If i didn’t have the above reference in front of me, I wouldn’t know that those were not so ideal seats. Seats 70-73 are rather good too but just too far back. I never quite fancy the last rows on transportation. I find myself more prone to motion sickness sitting that far back. My preferred choice is the window seat, of course. But DT prefers the aisle seat. So if it is 3 seater, it has to be one or the other. Otherwise, we will end up with a stranger sitting in between.

Nanjing Nanjing

Watched this on SBS TV. Maybe Hiroshima deserved it. Not the people but the country.

Charcuterie and Fromagerie

While doing homework for markets to visit in Paris, i came across two new culinary terms. I knew boulangerie relates to bakery and patisserie relates to pastry. Charcuterie relates prepared meat products such as bacon, ham, sausage, terrines, galantines, pâtés, and confit. Charcutier is the French word for a person who prepares charcuterie, literally pork butcher. And Fromagerie relates to cheese

Drug Driving

Nobody cares if you want to get yourself killed as long as you don’t injure anybody else or take somebody with you.
